Elemental

This week's theme was "Elemental" and we have some pretty wildly different ideas with some similarities at the same time! haha

Esca's pic this week is awesome! She's starting to be able to translate her awesome sketching and inking skills to digital stuff now that we've got Photoshop working properly for her! I'm really impressed with how it came out, overall. The hand there looks fantastic and that's one of those things she used to have trouble with! I love her character's expression as well :D

My pic is pretty ridiculous. I wanted to make something colourful and to redesign a character that I actually came up with for this blog a while ago!

Anyway, fun theme, we'll see what Esca comes up with for next week! <3

RO!

Ello ello, we've decided to work on some sketches from a game that Kiah & I have been playing online called Ragnarok Online =).

Kiah's character is a SNIPER!!! We've worked hard to level up our characters and get to where we are with them-- when we're fighting monsters, he usually does the most damage =P haha. I love his picture, and I can't help it but....wtf, Kiah looks hot in person, Kiah looks hot on paper, Kiah looks hot online.....haha, i love him =). I knew his picture would turn out great, I saw him working on it a bit while I was over-- I'm always so impatient to see his finished work! At this very moment he's giving me some information on falcons (such as the bird in his picture <3). Did you know that they can dive about 125 MPH to catch their prey? =X. I'm envious though, I want a bird in the game... haha. I especially like the lighting in this picture-- I find it hard to do that with clothes soooo he should teach me.

I also drew my character, I'm an ASSASSIN CROSS; 'yeeeeeeeahhhh boooiii'! That pink thing is a Poring (a low level creature). I find it difficult to draw myself for some reason, & when I'm drawing other characters, most of them end up looking like me which is really strange. haha.

Monster and Me

The theme for this week was "Monster and Me", kind of weird, I know but I was thinking about monsters so I just had to do something with it and force poor Angela to deal with it as well! ;D I love monsters: zombies, minotaurs, dragons, trolls, they're all so interesting and they get so little attention from people generally. They're simply foes to be conquered and not characters in the greater plot. Monsters can be real villains or heroes too! Next time you see one, please empathize with their story!

Esca's pic came out so awesomely! She always does such interesting work with her sketches. We talked about how to take the raw energy of a sketch and translate it to a finished piece and it looks like this is on the right path! Nevermind that it's damned funny. Originally, she was going to do something scary but I think this has so much character! I can't wait to see her start using more colour, I think she'll be great when she gets more comfortable!

Mine is weird, I'm not sure how I feel about it. I think I like it but I know it's not a spectacular composition. I struggled with the colour and I think I could have picked better ones but still...I like it better than my last one! lawl

Esca's choice for next week! :D

Snowball Fight

Today's theme is "Snowball Fight" obviously....New England has gotten a lot of snow so far this winter; so instead of complaining about how much I want it gone, I've decided to go with this theme to make myself feel better haha.

Kiah always does a great job with his! Don't know how he does it sometimes =X, HMMMPH! I always love the expressions that he uses for characters in the picture haha. Besides from the great color choices and awesome painting style, I think that my favorite part would have to be that kid's reaction on the right, upper left corner. He's like "AHHhhhH!", a moment of panic-- it just makes me giggle =D, haha.

Mine, well...it's snow. I wanted to show silhouettes hiding in snow forts and whatnot. I want to become better at drawings without contours. It's very difficult for me, digitally.

Kiah's theme next...and it's a good one; I'm excited!

Randomness

Working on my illustration skills by applying ideas from my Drawing Intensive class to stand alone images. I've also been working on animation stuff as well! How exciting! It sucks that we haven't had much time to post any themes lately, but that's how it goes. Unfortunately, I do too many comics and too much homework. Hopefully we can get some open canvas stuff done soon :)

Check out this link to my dA page, and hit "download" on the left side to watch my flip book animation! It's only 4 seconds long but still! 116 frames of animation!

Dark Sorcery

So, as Esca had sort of said last time, we're moving to weekly themes and thus, weekly illustrations. Personally, I'm planning to do one full illustration every week. We're also thinking that when we draw together on Open Canvas over the internet, we'll probably upload those sketches here as well, but not as part of any theme, just free sketch time. :)

This week's theme was "Dark Sorcery" which is kind of a strange concept. Esca's pic, as usual, really captures the idea. I really like the idea she had and how she drew the poor person being drowned as well as the little skull haha I love skulls. The witch thing she drew is really pretty creepy as well...

Mine this week is kind of an illustration slash concept design for a villain in Starsign. While it looks like I'm just pursuing a concept of murder, this guy is actually practicing an occult art known as Anthropomancy; aka divination using human entrails and organs. Pretty brutal. Starsign revolves around occultism and horror stuff a lot of the time, so I feel like he'd make a good villain. The style of it doesn't really match what I'd want for the comic, but the design itself didn't turn out too bad.

Anyway, hopefully these will be ready every Sunday, but sometimes things are busy (like this week) and we may update a little bit late.
